This part of Wallgate still floods occasionally these days. It must be two feet deep or so. Which side of the bridge is this photo taken?

Ilived on the corner of Great George St and Wallgate. It seems to me to be looking up into town.On the left are some shops one of which I think became a pawn brokers next to Hawkins and then the pet food shop and then G.G.S..On the left under the bridge was the Swan pub. That's the view I had from my bedroom window.Having said all that,I'm not at all sure.

Didn't a bridge cross the road on the Newtown side of Seven Stars Bridge, or am I mistaken?. The bridge does not seem wide enough to be Wallgate Bridge.

At the back of the crowd of people on the left side was seven stars hotel and to the right of the crowd is Eleanor street.

No too familiar with that part of town so thanks for the comments. You are correct it isn't wide enough to be the bridge next to Wigan NW and I do remember the railway brideg further down near where B&Q is now. What line did it serve, Wigan to Orrell and merseyside?
