There's nothing and no-one in sight and yet this photo holds so much atmosphere; you can almost feel the heat of the sun on the flags. Fanciful maybe?...Fair enough, but that's how it struck ME. Many thanks to both Marguerite and Ron for these photos.
Looks like frog lane to me looking to hallgate with the rectory wall on the left
Ron,fantastic photographs, keep them coming, one of the most interesting
days evel on Album.I can't sort out where in Hardybutts this can be,the school wall round the boys school didn't have coping stones like these.and the bend in the road foxes me.it possibly the top part of Hardybutts itself,
the wall being the top part or the church wall. Just looking at it it looks more like Frog Lane /Woodhouse Lane.I hope someone can recognise it.
the street on right looks like roscoe st the wall on left looks like st pats church where bell was installed bottom right looks like turning into rupert st where vulcan pub was
This is Frog Lane. Top of the picture is the old Blue Coat school, To the left is the rectory, now Deanery wall.
Watchalot i agree with you .thats the chuch wall on your left .picture taken with St Pats Girl School I think it was at the back of the photographer

sure its ssame as this pic just faceing the other way
Liam, I've looked at the photogragh you mention ,and I am almost sure your
right,so it most be Frog Lane.
THATS NOT HARDYBUTTS,I ALSO THINK ITS FROG LANE
Great reparte about the location. No matter where still a fab photo of times long gone. I went to All Saint's in the 60s and if it is Frog Lane it must have been before my time at the school. Would the end of Dorning St be in shot? The school would be downstream of the photo on the left and the pub, what was it called, facing the school? Pear Tree?
I think the picture is Hardybutts. The murky building on the right could be part of the Vulcan pup and some of the buildings in the distance are still standing. Everybody has different memories and opinions though.
Stop calling it hardybutts,it's frog lane,I lived in the house in the middle of the photo ,number 14,follow the row of houses on the right and you can see the school,it's the bluecoat school which I attended,if you turned right after the houses you would be going up hallgate towards the parish church, the high wall on the left was the rectory wall, behind the photographer is the deanery high school
To clarify search frog lane on this website and you will see a much better quality image taken from the other end of frog lane looking at this same row of houses and the wall
