Photograph of a man and his best friend taking a rest in Wigan Lane in the 1930's.(the caption with the the photograph does say 1923 but I think it is a lot later than that) The bus is stopped at the Marylebonne bus stop

Ron, I think you are right in surmising the date is later than 1923. The bus looks to be one of a group which, according to a book I have, was purchased by Wigan Corporation between 1929 and 1931.

I think this is a great photo. How long as it been since a man could sit at the side of this road with his dog and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet?. The only traffic on the road is ONE bus!.

No sign of tramlines or gantries, so most likely 1930s.
