Captured cine film passing through Poolstock about 1958. Scotsman's Flash would be to the right beyond the railway line. In the distance, over the embankment, appears to be a chimney and winding gear - Moss Colliery?

The railway line is the Pemberton Loop line about halfway between the Tippings Arms in Worsley Mesnes and Westwood. Would love to see the original cine-film. You can still walk along the remains of the trackbed, over the Canal and alongside Scotman's Flash

Good picture. I'd like to see the cine-film too, if it's possible?

Have you considered uploading any of your cine footage to Youtube? Looks like you have some good stuff there

sorry i dont think thats the pemberton loop line in the fifties far to busy for loose wagons arranged like that.
the line was double track from just west of hindley no2 to little lane pemberton junction.it could be an engineering sunday but i doubt it.at that point track is 1 in 90/100.no loose coupled wagons would hold on that slope

It's difficult to see where else this shot might have been taken than the lowe Poolstock Lock. It looks as if it might have been a weekend, given the number of boats about - and maybe even a Bank Holiday weekend. Wouldn't wagons on an incline have been spragged anyway?
