The white building on the right, is the Whitesmiths pub, still there, and one of the shops to the left was Alker's newsagents, and nextdoor, Westhead's toffee shop

Tony, the shop on the corner of Brick Kiln Lane used to be Critchley's fruit and veg shop, Next, I think was a Funeral Director, then Alkers Newsagents, then the toffee shop Thomas's bought it bt before, an old lady had it but, although Westhead's toffee factoy was behind these shops, the shop wasn't Westhead's Can anyone remember the name ?

Is the Whitesmiths still open?

DAVID.
Yes, still open - it's a tapas restaurant now (Casa Carlos) but it's also a bar so you can still go in for a pint.
Cheers !
