I remember The Fifty Shilling Tailors being in Wallgate opposite The Raven. Am I right in saying that the site shown in this photo was later occupied by the Donegal Tailors, before becoming Jacksons in the fifties? I seem to
remember it was a chain store which had little glas panels above the main windows with the names of their other branches shown in them.

DerekB I think you are confused with Dunn's Gents Outfitters. Dunn's had a shop on Wallgate across from the post office, they later moved to The Market place near where the Moon Under Water is now, their shop had coloured glass heraldic panels over the main window relating to other branches. Think Dunn's closed late 80s or early 90s.

Duncan, I remember Dunns originally being where you say it was i.e. opposite the Post Office. I was referring to the Fifty Shilling Tailors being on the same side of Wallgate as the Post Office , a bit further up than Ashton's tobacconist and opposite The Raven. The Donegal Tailors, prior to Jacksons being there, was on the present site of the Thomas Cook travel agents in Market Place/Market St.
