The start of the brickwork on the new Crispin Arms 1954. My father (white shirt), can be seen (with our dog), standing next to the Foreman, I believe he was called Mr Diccinson, while the bricklayers are standing on the scaffolding looking at the camera. On the right is Birkett Street, none of those houses remain but those to the left, behind the wall are there today, also Frederic(k) Street can just be seen at the top right. I was told that the area we're looking at used to be used for stabling horses at one time when the pub was first built, probably in the 1890's.
