The footpath across the field to Hall Green is shown. My sister & I used to walk that way home to Holland Moor after a night out at the Lyric. Anne would have been about 16yrs & me 4 yrs younger...nobody worried about walking alone in the dark in those days. Thanks for finding the map Mick, I see where Brooklands is now.
The path's still there Helen, but now runs through a housing estate.
Known locally as 'The Cunnery', the path goes over what were the Cunnery Fields. Often wondered if the name has its derivation in 'Coney', as in rabbit.
I too have been remembering the path, walking home from the Lyric and wondering where the name came from--Don't have an answer about the name, wouldn't even have known how to spell it! Funny how some things we just accept without question,-until much later in life!

Cunnery is derived from coney, an old English word meaning a rabbit or burrowing creature. The cunnery in UpHolland is thought to be the place where rabbits were bred for the table of the medieval manor which was somewhere in the vicinity. Hallbridge Farm, Tithebarn Street and Hall Green are all reminiscent of the manor of Holland.
