This photograph was taken one Saturday afternoon in January 1967 when Taylor’s Mill caught fire. The blaze was so fierce that smoke could be seen for miles around.

Remember it well. I was stuck on a bus at Seven Stars for ages!

I remember seeing the smoke from Scholes and running to see where the fire was. I never got there, I was only 8 and my legs were tired!!!
