David, did you take photo.I lived in this area for 40 years.
Most of this pile of bricks was still in situ in the 50s/60s. We used to play on them along with a lot more derelict buildings
Two vague recollections about this chimney and i do stand to be corrected
i) it was one of the tallest in the country?
ii) the demolition was featured in a programme 'All Our Yesterdays'?
The Photo was given to me yaers ago by Fred Dibnah, he told me it was the tallest chimney in the country at the time.
i have a photo of it coming down, as soon as i can find it i will post it
Felled in 1936 approx., 360 feet high. Typical WC&I design with just a slight flare to the top rather than a full oversailer.
