Great photo - steepness of slope (if it is Scholes) i would guess around the Clarington Grove area - Birket Street?
My Mam carried me in a shawl like this one, wrapped around herself with me tucked up inside; I never had a pram, but I still have the shawl.
I went to school in Scholes and lived in Birkett Bank, at a guess it looks similar to Gilroy or Belvoir Street.
could it be cambrdge st I lived there around that time
all the older women still used shawls
I am pretty certain a wider view of this shot has been posted before, but I am not sure which section. There was some discussion about the location then I think.

That is well spotted. Same woman, same street.But not the same picture.(Head and shoulder angle completely different). Still begs the question, what is her name ?
Well done Dennis. I spent around 2 hours trying to find the picture, which I remembered from last year. Still don't know who she is, but it is around St.Patrick's area.

Colin Quinn is correct. This is St Patrick St. the shop in the distance is Tommy Dummican's on the corner of Anderton St.
