Wigan Album

The building to the left of Minorca was a Stationery shop that belonged to the Wigan Observer founder, and the Post master of Wigan, Thomas Wall & sons Ltd. The Observer's Offices was in Rowbottom Square (to the left) now the Observer Buildings. The Wigan Observer was printed there from 1853 to 1966.

I'm just re-reading "Rose" by Martin Cruz -Smith about Wigan in the 19th Century. He mentions the Minorca Hotel and the Wigan Observer shop. Very interesting book.
