Walked up these stairs on school outings. What a magnificent staircase it is!! Just round the corner towards the top of the stairs is a lovely tapestry which we were told "DON'T TOUCH". Thankyou Christine, cheers!!
We held our Wedding reception at Haigh Hall and have a lovely photo of us standing on those stairs 1959
I worked here for about 12 months in 1980,the atmosphere in the place sort of puts its arms around you-I can still feel it today..
..and "Lizzie down under"..are you saying thanks to Christine that works at the hall?..if so-she "still" works there after 30 odd years..and she`s still as beautiful too-age has been kind to her.
Ive been up & down that staircase so many times-down in the cellar-and into every room in the building-even sunbathed on the roof in the summer-and as for the place being haunted..I used to be the 1st person in the hall at 7-30 every morning and had to turn all the lights on-and I was on my own in there until the rest of the staff turned up at 9..I never had any weird happenings-maybe the ghosts were being kind to me for loving the place so much?
Christmas in this place is like Magic..you`ll walk in as an Adult-and walk out as a Child!
I walked up these stairs about 1973 when attending a dinner dance. I wore a long white chiffon dress and felt like a princess until I got my stilletto heel caught in the chiffon and stumbled on the third step.
