Yep. They didn't know it, but they were pioneers of recycling. I remember that you could hear our R & B guy in Golborne shouting from miles away.
We had a Rag & Bone man in Holland Moor. I remember getting a goldfish! I called him Sammy & he swam happily around his goldfish bowl for quite a few years.
The bloke driving the cart is Jackie O`malley, he used to live Poolstock way.

My Uncle Tommy (Miller) was a rag'n'bo man, he worked Platt Bridge and Bickershaw way.

If I remember right Jacky the rag and bone man played the piano in the Railway Hotel when Ken Gee was landlord, usually early evening especially Fridays. Just lads in having a couple on their way home from work. Ken used to give him a free pint for playing
most of them where from catteralls poolstock he had a selection of hores and carts
