Derek ,was this made by the same Starky as Miss Starky the Highfeld schoolteacher ?

Hi Marlene
Miss Starkey was headmistress of the Infants school at St John's , Pemberton and her brother was Headmaster of the Juniors. I think they originated from Highfield. I also wondered if they were connected.

Yes, same family. They lived in the last red brick house across from Pony Dick.

Hi Derek
My cousin is staying with me and we have not heard of a Derek in the family... unless you have a grandfather named Bob????

Comment by: Derek Winstanley on 11th August 2009 at 16:03

Tricia, sorry, no grandfather Bob!

tricia, thinking about your question. Was your grandfather by any chance Bob Winstanley who lived in Hall Lane cottages?

Comment by: tricia on 12th August 2009 at 09:49

Hi Derek
My grandfather, Wiliam , had an older brother called Bob who lived in the red brick terrace opposite Winstanley Hall. He was in the choir at Highfield for years. My grandfather worked at Blundells and died before I was born. I have been tracing my family tree and there are so many Winstanley families it is really confusing... difficult as well as I live abroad.

That was perhaps the "Old Bob", who I remember.

Derek
Gt Uncle Bob is on the video/CD of the laying of the foundation stone of the Parish Hall
Strangely enough, I have a cousin Carole, nee Winstanley, who has lived in Australia for many years now.
