The film was made by Mitchell & Kenyon who helped organise the comical element, copying perhaps the famous garden hose scene in the earliest ever films of the Lumiere brothers of the mid 1890’s.

I should have mentioned that I have an interest in who the steam tram driver might have been since my great grandfather James (Scottie) Gorrie was a tram driver and later drove electric trams, it’s said (within the family) that he drove the first electric tram in Wigan.
