Hello antar, this isn't Newtown its Pemberton Centre. Interesting photo though!

Pic is of Pemberton.
Pub on left is the Queen's Hotel, which used to be on corner of Ormskirk Rd/Woodford St. It's now Geetee's, and adjacent shop is now Greenhalgh's.

This is at Pemberton, outside what is now Gee Tees.
It says at the top, tram at Pemberton about to return to Wigan. The Black Bull was on the corner of Chapel St and Ormskirk Rd.

This is indeed Pemberton....The Black Bull pub on the right
protruded right out almost to the middle of the road leaving just a narrow gap for the traffic to pass through up towards Orrell, Hence the term "the bottle neck". When the pub shown was demolished the road was made much wider but it's still nicknamed "the bottle neck" to this day.
