Alma Hill by the flats above the old infant school.One of these chaps is myself Martin Pearce.Must keep the ball on the ground or all the windows near will be broken.......Mrs Townley.........good memories.

No not that I am aware of, if you don't ask you will never know. Three brothers David ,Robert and Martin of 73 Alma Hill Upholland Nr Wigan. Moved late 1970's.

I can remember Mrs Townley shouting for playing football also sitting on her wall. The Ford Anglia belonged to John Hartill and I can see my Dad's mini parked behind the other car.
I remember playing there and on the land below the wall on the left, there was a chunk of wall missing on the corner and we made that our Den... how safe was that? Could've fell on us at any time, no health and saftey then!
Great photo. Sorry to but in - I was googling the name Hartill in Upholland and came accross this. I'm trying to find out who the parents of my Grandfather were. He is Charles/Charlie Winstanley born 1920, so would have been 40ish at this time and his mother's maiden name was Hartill. I know there is some family connection with upholland although Charlie moved to Worsley Mesnes when he married my Grandmother Mildred. If anyone has any info at all I would be extremely grateful.
