I can remember in the 1970's the shop that says "Card shop" as well as selling cards used to sell posters and silk scarves with pops stars names on. I can remember buying a scarf with Mud on it.

I remember the shop next door was a newsagents and we used to pop in before we went into the cinema because the prices of chocolate and crisps was much cheaper than the ritz's. we used to go in to watch the movie with massive pockets hoping we weren't seen. happy days lol

The shop next door to the Card Shop used to be Bill Davies bookmakers from early Seventies `til mid Eighties. Lost a few Half Crowns in there.

I remember my sister working at Andre Bernards shortly after it opened possibly 1959/60. The shop had full glass frontage and stairs that led directly upstairs, unfortunately on descending, as I witnessed one day, it was possible to assume you were going straight out into the street. I'll never forget the sickening noise of the impact, the hurling of the body backwards nor the impression left on the glass by the make up of the poor unfortunate lady.
