Played football on this field so many times as a kid both before and after Nicol Mere School opened. Living in Canada since 81 - but surprised to see how different the area is now when we go back. Really nice to see this 'flashback'
I used to sit for hours with my Dad fishing when it used to be the flash.
My dad Arthur Edwards used to go fishing at the flash on Bryn rd
My grandparents lived in those houses with the back yards showing. My dad was born at 254 Bryn Road
If you don't mind me asking, who is your Dad Paul? I might know him
Hi Karen, it was Tom Sudworth. Born in 1933

HI Woodentop, Yes, that's the one! Unfortunately both Tom and Brenda died 10 years ago, and Horace about 3 years ago. Ken is still alive and well. Tom WAS a good goalkeeper (or so he used to tell me.....)! Which team did you play with him in? 1st Bryn BB, school, or Old Ashtonians?

Hi Paul, the team i played alongside your dad was the BB team
opposite the old bus shelter on the other photo there used to be a old barn type building on the left side of the roadway which went up to garswood hall colliery, that was our changing room,my grand parents lived in the same row as your grand parents their names was Dan & Mary Bryan not sure of the house number but later on one of their sons my uncle Jimmy lived there with his family for a long time.
Paul, I'm related to some Sudworths who lived on Bryn Rd (or Long Lane as it was known back then) so there could be a link. Check out my site to see if you spot anyone.. http://www.sudworth-family.talktalk.net/family/pafg05.htm#11
