I remember the land/hill well. Also, the railway in the distance. What was/is your brother's name Barry, I can't remember. Have you any more pic's of the area at that time ?
there were 5lads in the family, ray was the oldest, then barry, harold, anthony and the youngest garry, raymond and harold are no longer with us as they passed away in 2003 and 2005 respectively,i also remember a j.brown who lived i st.paul's ave,are you that person.
Am sorry to hear that your Ray and Harold are no longer with us I have some very good memories of the good old days ......... we always called Harold Lalk I don't know why do you ?
I remember Dennis Sixsmith aswell .. brill photo ......
Our lalk hated the name of Harold and asked me to give him a nickname, this stuck, later on he was known as Harry to his workmates at the post office,so on family get togethers we had harry, barry and garry the wigan bee-gees.
Hi Barry
Yes, I lived in St Paul's - got a brother called Frank, and a few more - 2 sisters too. I used to knock about with Norman Skellon - we used to call you Busk (or Bursk) - silly name, but I remember it well. I used to swap comics at one time, with your Ray. Good old days. Keep the pictures coming
hi john,i remember you had a nickname(jax or jacks)and you use to like to play the drums,mr alan phillips gave me my nickname when we used to hang round the shop doorways in st.pauls ave,we used to be moved on by your dad,or bobby crogan, bobby leigh or bobby cooper.
Hi Barry
My nickname was indeed Jacks. Given to me by Norman Skellon, it was a corruption of the French for John (Jacques Anglisized), it was his idea of a joke. Have you any idea of his whereabouts now I wonder ? If you have any more pic's of the estate etc put them on.
Alan Phillips, now there's a name to conjure with.
Anyone remember Les Whittaker?
les wick was living on Ruskin Ave the last I heard don't know if he is still there or not.........
norman is now living in boswell place,he has lived there a while since the flats on sefton road were converted,he still likes going shooting with george fairhurst but i dont see him that often,i dont have any more photos of the estate but i am hunting them down.
derek was more my age and he used to knock about with a group in ashton mick lyons and co...
Didn't a few of the Fletcher brothers play football in the wigan sunday league I think i remember the one called Lalk as good enough to play semi professional.
