The Shop is 'Mama Gannons ' the next shop going done Cambridge Street was Poly Do'outs , the shop on the other corner ,an off licence at this time probably Paggetts later Tom Dunns . Going back in time it was run by Joanna Mc guinne , not sure of the spelling.
Rosaleen Handley’s sister had the shop at one time. The family had shops in Wellington St Tom.
Veronica when Mama Gannon left a couple from Manchester Road Ince , Ronnie and June took over .when they left as you say Eileen, Nee Hanley ran the shop her husband was known as Cockney Bill.
It finally became a Betting Shop.
I remember when it was a Betting Shop Tom. I can also remember when I had to take a bet for my dad to ‘ Jimmy’ Devine who lived in Higham St but had to go up the entry to his back door. I was still at school then. ( I think he was called Jimmy) he had a daughter called Edith.
