Just a pity The Grand Hotel is not like that now.
My Mum was a button hole maker at Coops from leaving school, early last century until she married, & returned there to pay for my education. She loved it.
Had our wedding reception at The Grand Hotel in 1958.
I wonder why that bloke has got a canoe on his head.
Snap Alan. I had mine there in 1961, Wishing you both, Good Fortune, for both of you, to reach your Diamond,in 2018. " As the future years unfold, may a diamond replace your gold."
I'm sure The Grand holds great memories for many people. During the late sixties, early seventies it was a regular Friday / Saturday spot for "the lads"with loads of talent in there. If you didn't pull in the Grand it was on to Sloopy's just around the corner.
Pity some entrepreneur doesn't buy it and bring it back to it's former glory.
There wasn't so much greenery in the background, at one time, was there?
St Wilf. He's probably one of those Canadian tourists.
Thanks, Albert for your kind words. Only 3 more years to go and we hope to make the Diamond Anniversary. Hope you I will be lucky as well.
Thanks Alan. God willing.
