I love this. It makes me think of playing out in the dark nights as a child. There was always a tingle of excitement when the nights drew in. We pressed our noses against lit-up toffee-shop windows and we played at tap-latch, then collected for the bommy, then in December we went carol-singing at people's doors and a disembodied voice would bellow "Come back next week!".
Irene. It brought back to me a memory of what happened about four, or five Christmases ago. Four youngsters' came to my door carol singing. All they sang was the one . " Christmas is coming , and the goose is getting fat, etc." I gave each of them a sheet of paper with six well known carols printed on them, and we all sang three of then. They received reasonable remuneration, and went off with the carol sheets.
A lovely story, Albert. I lived in Ince as a child and have only just got to know Springfield as my son lives there now and I pick my Grandchildren up from school twice a week, but I love the above photo; it is so atmospheric.
