I like these paintings, full of atmosphere!
Excuse my ignorance but can someone please tell me where this is? There never used to be a Marketgate.
I think it is Market Square, not Gate.
To the right with the awning over the door is the old Crofters, straight ahead with the bus is Library street

Yes. Market St but it makes you think. I like both paintings
good paintings both of them but something in both seems out of scale and time.
Looking up Market Street toward the Market Place not Market Square or Market Gate. Market Gate was the indoor shopping centre accessed from Market Place which exited onto Woodcock Street before it was extended and joined up with The Galleries.
Market Gate was built over the demolished Little Arcade, Commercial Yard and Moot Hall. Now the entire site is being demolished, what a wise council Wigan has!!!!!!
