Mark, that building that is jutting out on the right, is that a chip shop now.

Comment by: peter on 24th October 2012 at 18:17

I've got some more goose green shots to put up, i'll get them done over next couple of days.
I'll ask my mum to pinpoint all the buildings & landmarks as she was brought up in Sydney st, her name was Enid Parkinson now Chapman.

peter I'm not convinced. I am sure that is the chippie.

Comment by: sandra webster on 24th October 2012 at 23:25

Hi John knew if we waited long enough someone would find these gems and post them .... I am thinking that the wall you can see is the school wall ... don't know why but I always thought the chippie was painted white and on the corner of clap gate lane my Mum worked there for a time ...

Comment by: sandra webster on 24th October 2012 at 23:29

had another look at the photo I think the little girl is standing in front of the freemasons and the wall belongs to the school and the building is a house ... the chippie was further along on the corner of clap gate lane

Yate's chippy is just out of shot on the right hand side, the new houses are Coleridge Place.

She's stood opposite Yates Chip Shop, the bloke on the other side of the road is stood in Coleridge Place.

The building on the right is not the chippy. It was a grocer,s shop and next door was the post office. Both have now been converted into flats.Down the side of the building you turn into Boswell Place.

The Chippie was Harrisons - "Freddie Cloggers" was next door and the sweet shop next to the Post Office was Speakmans. Happy Memories
