Hi Keith I reckon you friend was looking into Fred Dawes shop Window

What a clear shot, of a regular haunt. Used to catch the bus on the left to go home. Also went to the coffee shop. Looks like the mini and a morris minor I use to drive. Good memeories

I also caught that bus home Dorothy, if it had started off when you was at the top of Library st you could run down the arcade and catch it coming back up King St.

in the background is Timberlakes Garage the bus in the shot would have been the hindley 3A or Higher Ince 3E or Lower Ince 3D

I thought the bus was the Norley Hall, but I may be wrong the Norley Hall could have been higher up Library St.

If the Norley Hall bus went down Library street, its going in the wrong direction. It alwaysed passed the Wigan North-West railway station.

the Bus is on the Hindley Ince stand the rear destination is showing Hindley could be Castlehill (3) or Station (3A)
3E 3D just said Ince when blinds were altered

THE 9 TO NORLEY HALL EST STARTED IN LIBRARY ST TOP STOP THEN WHENT UP KING ST AND LEFT INTO WALLGATE I USED TO DRIVE FOR WIGAN CORPORATION UNTIL 2009

Further down Library St., on the opposite side(Now Wallpaper Supplies) Timberlake's had another showroom. The workshops were on the first and second floors, bodyshop, paintshop etc.,There was a lift at side of the building and the car was deposited at appropriate floor. They also had petrol pump that came out on swing arm and could dispense petrol on to the street, seems incredible these days.When the closed the Library St.,operation, they moved lock, stock, and barrel to Wallgate on the site now occupied by Go Outdoors store.

I used to work at the library in the 50's I remember that street well!

Down the snicket at the side of Timberlakes garage was Ashton's tobacconists warehouse.
