that's DEFINITELY the canteen ... I remember those drunken Christmas parties well. Eventually we had to be reined in because we didnt know when we had had enough. I worked there from 76-86 and was glad to get out but I have some happy memories of singing and dancing whilst packing the parcels on G line - thanks for posting. Anne
I remember those christmas dinners, the two supervisers two sisters used to serve us our dinner, can't think of there names from the packing dept.Worked there from 1976-78 when it opened 1976 everybody went there straight from school it was like working with all your mates, great times remember those vending arears full of smoke and running down those stairs to clock off, it was amazing no one got killed.

That is the canteen at Gidlow Mill (as it was known when I worked there 1970s/80s). On the bottom floor there was Nancy Barton (One of the bosses), Jean Atkinson (Supervisor), and an irish guy who was the main boss ??? McGuinness etc.
That photo was taken in the canteen at martland mill, i'm the one in the jeans and my dancing partner is Karen Moran. We worked on the 1st floor carton glide.

Worked at GUS 84-95, in Ardwick but I did travel round the warehouses and went to some Xmas dos at Martland. Boss was a bit colourful, Bob something. Held a team meeting with a paper bag on his head.
