I was in there for 2 weeks for a hernia operation in 1945, I was only 6 but I have a vivid memory of that episode, it put me off hospitals good and proper.

I remember being in this ward in 1936, I was 3yrs old.I had surgery for an inguinal hernia, caused by trying too hard in a peddle car. I was in one of those cots with the high sides and as I was comming around I somehow got my hand inside the dressing and I pulled out some of my stitches, all hell broke loose and I was rushed down for further stitches and when I came around the second time i was tied in my cot with bandages around my wrists and to the iron bars. It was pitch black outside and there was a thunder storm raging, water was pouring down the windows and lightening was flashing. I was scared stiff.

I was in Upper Johnson ward in 1958. I had my appendix out, they had burst and I was not expected to live. I was allowed a few sips of water every hour and I used to watch the clock, which was on the wall opposite my bed, going round. Talk about clock watching.

I was also a patient on this ward on different occasions from 1957 up until 1968. I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease and had to have tests and stay for a week at a time.I wonder if anyone knew me.
