I fired for David a few times also his brother Jack, they were both gentlemen, I also fired for Sid Darbyshire, sadly no longer with us, Anyone on here remember Joe Lee, or Cliff Preston, both of my era.

I also fired for David Rowles. I worked at Springs Branch from 1954 to 1963 then left to join the Fire Service.I remember Cliff Preston, he came from Standish and was a cleaner at the same time as me.

Jack rowles was my grandfarther, and he and david were gentlemen.

I remember Joe Leigh, the last time I saw him he was living up Beech Hill, that was a number of years ago.
I was at the branch from 1953 to 1961, after my National Service, I came out in 1958, I failed with my eyes and ended up on the shed, shed shunt etc. I left in 1961.
I'm trying to figure out who you are.

Hi Roland do you not remember two brothers harold and brian who worked at the branch in the 50and60s if you worked on shed shunt we may have worked with you did you do tanking and coaling as well my last driver was TIM paye brian

my grandad Alan Green fired for David Rowles before moving back to bury mpd and stated he was a legend of loco men

My dad was Joe Leigh. Sorry to inform you all but he died on Tuesday 28th February 2017. Funeral service is at Wigan Crematorium on Wed 8th March 2017
