c1962 taken on the Whelley loop at Higher Ince in front of the Rabbit Rocks.
Strange thing memory. I know that they opened the firebox door for me to have a look and I can remember not being able to see anything except black for a bit when they had shut the door again, but without the picture to prick the mind I don't know if I would have remembered.
It was good of them to take the time to do this.

Can't be absolutely certain but I think the engine driver could be my uncle, George E Jones who sadly died last autumn. He loved his time working on the railway.

Albert Whittaker is the driver. George Jones would only be about 36 in 1962.

Tony perhaps you are right and thinking about it my uncle would be in his 40's at that time.

We have zoomed into this pic and realised that the fireman just in view is a very close relative. amazing!!
