All from the Wigan area that travelled each day to the site from around Wigan.Our site transport was an Austin Gypsy ('B' registered)Ken Fox,Ken Green,Me (on the bonnet), Alan Hodge plus unnamed.This photo taken 5 weeks before this stretch of M6 was opened to traffic giving non stop driving from Warrington-Carnforth. in 1965.

Ken Green (second from right) had the papershop at the top of Bickershaw Lane in Abram.

When I joined the Wigan Borough Police, I took the constable number of Sergeant Don Black, No 118. On his retirement in 1960, he went as the security officer, for McAlpine's, relating to the M.6 motorway construction.
