1982/3 Taken from Sutcliffe's premises on the Wheatlea industrial estate. Looking towards Westwood power station across the area now occupied by Sainsbury's. At that time, the site belonged to Robert Baillie's transport. A few of their trailers can be seen in the picture. It later became the property of Roy Whittaker, a local haulier, before being sold on to become the site of the present day supermarket. At the time, the sum of £6,000,000. was rumoured, although I cannot vouch for the authenticity of this figure.
