I just love the cranes on the railway and have a Hornby Dublo 00 guage model which looks very similar to that in the photo. There has never been a really good 00 model of one since that in the 60's. The current model is more toy that the Dublo version. Any more photos of steam cranes would be appreciated.

Very intersting photo, obviously pre 1974 health and safety at work act, not a hard hat in sight and only one hi viz between the lot of 'em, beltin?

Paige, I can see 4 Hi Vis vests and 2 men wearing hard hats. I think the man stood on the bridge above the + sign is Arthur Lewis. Mick could maybe confirm this.

Stephen, ok i'll give you the high viz but you've better eye sight than me if you can see two hard hats, unless the flat caps on the blokes on the bridge count !

There was nowt wrong with workers then, Health and Safety must thing every one's thick and stupid or something. Just because they wear high-viz and a hard hat they won't have an accident. It's all down to the workers and how careful they are as individuals. H/ and safety cost firms millions not just on clothing but thousands of other thing as well. Some of it justified but most of it not...that's my opinion.
