this was done every year for the church ( ST Nathaniels )at harvest time by dad Bill And Alan and was shown in the shop window before going to church

I remember similar ones at Ince Parish Harvest Festival when I was at Ince Central School; I don't know who baked them, though.

Dear Gladys, I remember one year at the distribution after the Harvest Festival at church the sheaf was sold off in pieces for church funds. I bought some with my "lunch money" (probably about 3d, to spend at Kelsall's on the way home from school) and my mum made it into toast for tea. It may even have been that one shown in your photo. Happy memories

I imagine so, or they were very artistic. Come on, Gladys, let us in on the secret. Edwards was the best bakers for miles.

The wheat sheaf is made all by hand, no mould, we learned how to make these whilst at Bolton Tech... a loy of patience was needed..
