Fantastic photos ron great to see these old buses, I remember them well .
Notice the little green lights either side of the destination window i think these were unique to Wigan Corporation
i started on buses in jan 62 and was told the green lights were for high bridge bus and red light on pd1 was for low bridge pdi could run up rectory lane windows dropped insted of sliding like pd2 onwards
Hi Watchalot. I was always told as a kid that the green lights on the corpy buses were to help you identify an approaching corpy service at night, as against another operator such as Ribble or Lancashire United operating on the same stretch of road. Probably something else my dad made up!
hi derek could not swear to it nearly 50 yrs ago it is something that stuck in my head
the green lights where there so you can tell it is a corporation bus and not a ribble or l u t
