i think they are from austraila god knows what one is doing here must be an escape from some were ,
just the opposite over here all black swans just a few white ones
There used to be one on the Wigan Flashes, I was told it was an escapee from Martin Mere or some other wildfowl park. Not too sure haw true that is, I always thought they clipped wings at these places?
Here in Norfolk we saw a pair of the black swans on a small river, the Stiffkey, I think. Don't know where they come from.
I don't think wings are clipped Dennis, all the wildfowl places are just that, wild fowl, they come & go as they please. We once went to the feeding time at Welney Wetlands in Cambridgeshire...I have never seen so many swans flying in for their supper. Just amazing.
Loads of them in Devon in Dawlish,the town center pub is called the Black Swan.
there's very often a pair on marine lake Southport.
There used to bea pair near Rivington barn and also at Arley golf club.
If it mates with a white swan, they have a maggpie.
