My late father, Walter Rushton when he drove for Smiths of Wigan in the 50s.

Foden coach with it's distinctive kite emblem, it could be a Lawton body and pvsc6 chassis first built in 1949. Your father would have had to have his wits about him Maureen, they were very difficult to drive as most coaches was at that time. Foden coaches were built in Sandbach. I would imagine the pride of the fleet in the 50s, with the top driver....Lovely photo.

Hi Maureen just spotted your dad Walter he was a good friend of mine while at Reed Transport I remember him and his mate Jimmy Kelly starting and I just loved their tales of their continental trips
I will look up my many photos as I’m sure Walter is on some so if possible keep your eye on the ReedTransport site
