This photo was taken in 1996 when best-selling American author Martin Cruz Smith of Gorky Park fame visited Wigan. He was at Wigan Pier to sign his new book 'Rose' which was set in Victorian Wigan. My Mum & her sister Agnes were among VIP guests at Martin Cruz Smith's book launch and signing session.
