Why do all these Grammar School Masters look like characters from the Chamber of Horrors. Was it cumpulsory those days?

Comment by: Frank Healy on 8th August 2008 at 08:15

Hi Jay Bell. Do we need to apologise or did you sleep well last night?

I think Tommy Walker was the only master who definitely heard the photographer say "say cheese".

One of em..before my time..apparently appropropriately named looks like an axe murderer. At best they all look like they've lost a quid and found a tanner.

Thought. Where was Fred Foster when we were struggling with some of the names on the "1952" staff photograph? :o)

jaybell, your right to be worried, teachers mentioned,Skirrow Boz,Nutt,Fal,dont appear to have changed form our time in the late fifties, souls sold to the devil,a "ruck"of Dorian Grays, the great undead,we may have to drive stakes through their collective hearts before we can all sleep easy.

Why the baseball bats beneath the front row ? practice cricket bats no doubt 'keep your eye on the ball, boys'

Comment by: Jay Bell Pentops on 11th August 2008 at 22:31

Some o' these guys look scariery than Nosferatu on speed.
Who's the handsome devil at the end of the row with centre parting?

Comment by: Trencher on 12th August 2008 at 15:32

Fal is saying “fancy meeting me under the cloisters luv”. The next one is saying “push off Fal I grabbed her first”. Next to him “These piles are bl…..killing me”. Next one “oo I wet meself”. The next ones dead.

Fred,I note that you also have a Highfield connection. When were you there? Meantime, what miserable looking creatures inhabit this photograph!

Fred,
I was very interested to read your memories of Grammar School life, they were most interesting. However, I must correct one thing. HW (Pat) Lemon, my grandfather, was from Dublin, now the Irish Republic, not from Northern Ireland.
