in the row above the teachers, 8th from left is Margaret Johnson, daughter of Joe who was a one time Mayor of Wigan

It is good to see the teachers on this photo. Miss Holmes who taught Latin and Ancient History is third from the left and Miss Bennett who taught French is 5th from the left.
I can remember Miss Holmes was in tears when the news of the death of King George the sixth was announced. My memory of Miss Bennett is of how she told me off for not being in class when if fact I had been off school for 2 weeks with bronchitis!
