He taught us science, he wasn't my favourite teacher, he had a right temper. I remember him canning one of the boys and he really did hurt him, the boys mother came down to school and had a right go at him. We were all listing outside the science lab.

I remember this teacher he taught history to us.. all about Cathage and the romans.. I never liked him. later in life I worked with his Brother Vinnie at British Aerospace nobody liked him either.

he tought me science,well i didnt like it neither did i like MR McCARTHY but maybe if we had more teachers like him ,some kids would be better behaved .

I remember McCarthy too, like Chris, Gerry, and Josie he was definitely not one of my favourite teachers. He caned me and two other guys for catching us having a fly puff one day, I remember I was in tears, but worse was to come as he told my parents. It was the only time my dad ever lifted his hand to me. When I got home I was taken to my room and had my trousers and pants taken down and thrashed with his belt. Must have done me some good as I never touched a fag from that day to this. As far as teachers go the youth of today need more like him to instill some discipline dont you think

Was I the only one that liked Mr McCarthy?

No Edna, I liked him. I thought he was a great teacher. He could be strict but I think that's what the kids of today are short of!
