My grand-daughter is hopefully going to this school next year. I really hope she gets in.....there's something homely about old school-buildings and old school-yards that is missing in modern schools.
Homely-O yes! I got the cane twice for NOTHING! I was framed on both occasions by Graham Gaskell but the headmaster (Choppy Clayton) would not believe me.
I was given the cane by a dragon named Miss Brown for getting mud on my shoes when I needed to cut across the field as I was on the last minute for school. Such barbaric treatment to a defenceless child, I've always felt, for such a trivial offence. No wonder so many children played truant from school.
I was taught by Miss Brown in the late 60s. It was starnge how most of the teachers in the juniors stayed for a long time but the infant teachers changed regularly. My father was taught by a Miss Nicholson during WW2 and she was still there in the 60s to terrorise me!!
Hi Stuart. Miss Brown was my teacher in Junior 1 1967 to 1968 and Miss Nicholson was my teacher in Junior 3 1969 to 1970.
I went to this school from 1980-1987 and loved it and I still see one of my old teachers walking past my house, Mrs Anderton. Went to The Deanery in 1987.
