The floats don't look religious enough for it to be a Walking Day procession. I like to horse on the right, taking it all in - or wishing it was out on parade.
You could be right about it being Spring View/ Lower Ince - the bend looks like the one on Warrington Road by Duke Street - with the houses with front gardens running down to Darnhall Street and the Walmsley Arms - with the Railway (?) pub opposite.
Pity about the watermarks - spoils the images, and obscures details.
I agree Rev. Long. Just past the fence on the right and out of shot would be Pearson Street (Repton Avenue today) , with Cecil Street across from that.
The only problem, however, is that the Old Railway pub wasn't on a corner - it was in the terrace, near Cecil Street.
Is it a pub? It looks like and Off Licence with an advert for Oldfields. However, I remember a row of shop to the right of it, but it does look like terraced houses in the photograph
Okay Dave, we are probably wrong. The shop awning on the right in the distance... if that is Duke St. we should see a branch of Droneys Tailors just beyond it, it looks like houses.
The picture could in fact be Kendall Street, looking up from the junction of Frog Lane and Gidlow Lane, but I would hazard a guess it isn't as I cannot see it being used as a walking day route.
