Thanks, Glenys; I love photos of Ince Green Lane. The shop with two windows open (behind the lady's hat) was Ernie's chippy in the 60s, and the shop at the far end(not clearly seen) was Little Amy's off-licence and toffee-shop.
St Williams was the first walk of the season for us in the British Legion Town Branch band.
It was on Whit Sunday, followed by the marathon round town Catholic walk on Whit Monday
Ah...memories! I may have been watching from Ernie's as I used to help him in the chippy and my mother worked there.
A great bloke was Ernie. He learned me to drive in his Triumph 2000. When I'd passed my test he used to lend me the car! A true gent.
the teacher on this photo looks like agnes dunne,taught in the boys school, and was sister to gertie dunne in the girls school
