Whelley line being lifted

The last portion of what was the whelley loop line gets lifted in december 1988.
this photo was taken from warrington road overbridge at what was platt bridge junction.
This last portion of the whelley line (about 600 yards worth)remained as a headshunt line for access to the old CWS glassworks.
The headshunt terminated at a stop block behind spring view cricket ground,(behind the photographer).
This picture is looking towards the WCML & the bridge that carried the bickershaw pit line near the token station.
Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, the weather that morning was just terrible with poor light & thick freezing fog.
I was just passing & had one frame left in a battered old instamatic camera when i got this shot.

At least i was able to record something of it disappearing.

The bridge still remains, as well as a section of the banking, but everything else has gone, and a question ?? did there used to be allotments to the left of this shot, just before the the bridge over the main road. ??

Poor quality as you say Baldylocks, but good enough to see. If you were to take the same shot today, you'd see a overgrown dirty filthy mess and the bridge hidden with out of control trees.
Aitch..yes allotments to the left.
