Closed in 1966.
West of Kinlet Road and south of Sandpiper Road. Summersales Cottages (Sumner Hall) were by the side of the colliery and demolished in 1954.

I was brought up in Queen St. I think vaguely remember this colliery being built. In the 80's my youngest son started his own busines there.He has moved on now.

Hi kath I was born in queen street also.I started work at the summersales colliery as a bevin boy when I was 14 years old I am now 76 years old.

This building compex housed the screening plant and the mine shaft.the front building with the staircase was the screening plant and the taller bit at the back were you can just see the apex housed the shaft.
