Looks rather like a Fowler 7F, certainly an 0-8-0 and, judging by the 27D shed plate, it's on home ground.

Dear Mr Higgins, I was attracted to several of your railway images posted on Wigan World. I am presently finalising a book on the engine sheds of south Lancashire and Cheshire and would like to know if you would be able to contribute some images to my project. In particular, any of steam on Wigan 'C' or Springs Branch sheds. If so please contact me as soon as possible at email: 4pearces@adam.com.au
Kind regards,
Kenn Pearce
