I worked at Johnsons after leaving Peter Pells, I was a Dry cleaning machine operator, I took over from Ken Parkinson from Ince Green lane, He went to be a Chef at the UCP in Market St The Manager of Johnsons at the time (1969/70) was Vince Turton from Liverpool Rd Platt Bridge Other Names I remember were Elsie Whalley, Elsie Hastings, Miriam ? from Lime St scholes, Eunice? Kath Nelson (presser) from Hindley, another Elsie ? who did sewing repairs. Laura ?, Marion Fawcett, Margaret ? she was a presser too. when I moved on to be a relief machine operator, Tony Meehan from Cornwallis road took my job.
can anyone fill in these ? marks please

Just remembered it was Elsie Owens, the lady that did the sewing repairs and invisible mending

Gerry, I had a cousin called Ken Parkinson who I believe lived in Ince Green Lane at one time. Sadly he died, not sure when. He came from quite a big family whose parents, my Auntie and Uncle, both sadly died young. Just wondered if it might be the same person.

Laura Dawber was the first sales and Margaret Smith was the presser, Margaret was a lady who had a car when she was about 17 and never had a test, she would be about 60ish in 1969

The car going down Wallgate is a Vauxhall Victor FD 1600.
