I went out with a girl who lived in this house, in the 1960's. The walls are about two foot thick
Great picture Mr Hunt, my mum Dorothy Alker always remembered the Post Office being here and the Bank just down the brow. Now I know what it looked like, thank you. Just up the hill to the left of the picture I can still remember how it looked before the railings and the wall went in, cobbles all the way up.
The man on the photo is thought to be Mr Hartley the postmaster. In his younger days Mr Hartley was one of the founders of UpHolland Wesleyan Methodist church, the early meetings were held in the old post office on the photo.
My Mum lived here when she first got married. She was called Barbara Bretherton then married was Barbara Brockbank.
I've just bought this house. I have possession of loads of old deeds etc. Loving finding out about it's history etc.
